If you want to quit smoking then our team of nurses can provide you with a programme for quitting, and can support you through the process. We can also provide information about using a 12 week course of Champix to reduce the effects of nicotine withdrawal. You may qualify for a fully-funded course of Champix if you want to quit smoking, have tried unsuccessfully before and are about to enrol in a cessation programme. We can work with you to confirm your eligibility.
A Smoking Cessation consultation takes 30 minutes to 1 hour with a nurse, during which we work with you through your Quit Book. This covers the five steps to quit smoking, which are:
- Set a Quit date
- Know your reasons for quitting
- Know your triggers
- Use patches, gum or lozenges
- Stay Quit
Each Smoking Cessation consultation cost $20.00.
It's also important to remember that relapse is a normal stage in your quitting process. If you've relapsed, our nurses can work with you to understand the reasons you may have relapsed, and use their experience to assist you with your plan to stop smoking.
Our nurses will also discuss with you other support options while you're quitting.
